Why Processed Food Is Unhealthy?

 What Is Processed Food?

Any food that is refined during its preparation in order to increase its shelf life, taste, and ease to use is processed food.

Actually, what a manufacturer does during refining, is the extraction of nutrients like fibres, vitamin B, and the addition of extra sugar, salts and fats.

Why Food Is Processed?

Manufacturer processed the food for two reasons;

  • Processing gives a softer texture to the end product.
  • Processing extends the shelf-life of food

A heavily processed food is too much low in nutrients_ even moulds don’t like to eat them preferably_ which increase its life for supermarket shelf.

Now the question arises if heavily processed food is very much low in nutrients then how it can be healthy for us.

Nutrient contents in food are directly related to the spoiling rate of food.so, any food with long shelf life certainly would be less healthy.

A manufacturer always manufactures food best for shelves in supermarkets. They tend to prepare food in unhealthy ways and use possible cheap raw materials. They make food attractive by adding more sugar, salts and fats all these ingredients cause- cardiovascular diseases, blood pressure, and obesity-health issues.

Another thing with heavily processed food is, manufacturers masquerade as healthy foods. After refining manufacturer adds synthetic nutrients to present the food healthy. This is all, done to trap nutrient aware consumers.
